The Music Industry Is Still Alive
By Summer (Wicked Angels Agency)
This is a long read my friends, so I put it in points of interest sections. Part one being an observation of how music is still alive, based on two shows, and some organizations keeping the scene alive. Part two is a review of the first show. Part three is the review of the second show, and thanks to everyone who made it happen. This is a good read for all who were involved, and anyone in the music industry who still believes (and works hard) to get what they want.
Part I
Things that I have learned and observed from the shows put together last weekend (June 19th and June 20th) involving Yvonne’s World, Metal Music Promotions (MMP), and Back From Ashes (Phoenix, AZ). It seems like there may have been others involved but that is the organizations that I know of.
First off, MMP and Yvonne are friends of mine in a business, professional, and personal way. I believe that their goals, beliefs, and drive for the music industry are just as pure and true to form as my organization (Wicked Angels Agency, and my past leather company) and mutual professionalism in business guidelines. Meaning we are all in it for the love of the music, people, belief, and faith in a group of talent, and most of all, NOT in it for the money. Now your first thought is the chaos that could take place with an organization of that nature. Yvonne continues to always impress me with her abilities to spread the word, beliefs, and make real talent be heard in a way that is told with only truth and yet very effective in its nature as a promotion.
I agreed to work with Back From Ashes as a friend and business loyalty to MMP and Yvonne, PLUS I loved their music. I could hear and see the passion of the organization (MMP and Yvonne) to know it was a show that would move you just to be part of it. So here came Friday and I chose to bring one of the Angels, and check out Dream World Music Complex (A great venue under new ownership in Arlington that under went a remodel making it a fantastic venue to play at) and to see BFA live for the first time.
It was almost a crowd of all first time BFA attendees at the venue, it was a crowd of people who heard through promotion of the quality of music, and felt the passion in the message that MMP and Yvonne were spreading. The ability to reach groups of new crowds and peak interest enough to make them come to a show they have never seen because MMP/Yvonne’s ability to communicate the talent of this group and the promise of a great show is an outstanding achievement. In this industry that statement alone is worth millions because several have tried and not many succeed! Everyone knows that this is the single most difficult thing for a band to do is to be seen and heard as the talent they are with the over saturated competition that is out there. Yet we all sit here making little to nothing and LOVING what we do because bands like Back From Ashes deserve it.
