I love Metal. I love women. Put that together and … whoa my freaking God! Thanks to the ever-working Masaki Murashita, guitarist/vocalist of Hemoptysis, I am a very happy man. Check out this promo video for Hemoptychicks, then click through to read more.
This is both a rant and a response to Derek Sivers recent blog, Not happy with existing venues? Make a new one. In short, the blog suggests to do exactly as the title says. Make it a point to read it and don’t forget to leave him a comment as well. The following relates to my own personal experiences regarding this subject.
Have you ever considered touring for the world’s most appreciative audience, The United States Military personnel? Did you even know you could do that? I was part of a similar program way back in the early 80s which eventually allowed my band, Tyger Lily, to make the contacts needed to build a career touring Asia for nearly 6 years. Let’s take a look at Armed Forces Entertainment, shall we?
Yep, there’s a plan for that too! You should know by now that I have a plan for just about everything. “But can’t I just post a Myspace bulletin requesting sponsorship?”, you ask. “NO!”, I reply. Well, I guess you could, but soliciting through social networks will not likely land anything that will remotely affect your music career.
Let’s break this down:
A SPONSOR is the individual or group that provides the support.
TO SPONSOR is to support an event, activity, person, or organization financially or through the provision of products or services.
A SPONSORSHIP is a cash and/or in-kind fee paid to a property (typically in sports, arts, entertainment or causes) in return for access to the exploitable commercial potential associated with that property. An example being, Bud Light may provide the funds needed to build a stage for a music festival in exchange for brand recognition, and of course, exposure to potential paying customers.
This month’s segment of Yvonne’s World (MUEN Magazine) is focused on the Rocklahoma after-party held at the Rockstar bar in Fort Worth, Texas. Writer Andy Laudano describes his night with Revengeance, The Gypsy Pistoleros, ASKA, and L.A. Guns.
When our good friend and business associate, Shauna O’Donnell (MUEN Magazine/MUEN Talk), asked us to hook up with THE SAMMUS THEORY when they passed through Houston, we jumped at the chance. Hank was able to catch them at Gary’s Spot and do a short video. We’ve included that video here. We later found out that another of her bands, PANDEMIC, were going to be at the Baytown Foozies gig. Wicked D used that opportunity to put together this little article. hope you like it!
We just wanted to take a little time to introduce one of our business affiliates, DesertCore Management & Consulting LLC. Being the management company of MMP supported bands, Back From Ashes and Hemoptysis, you know we have worked very close together on several successful projects, as part of an amazing network!
