wicked.jpgThis is both a rant and a response to Derek Sivers recent blog, Not happy with existing venues? Make a new one. In short, the blog suggests to do exactly as the title says. Make it a point to read it and don’t forget to leave him a comment as well. The following relates to my own personal experiences regarding this subject.

AFE.jpgHave you ever considered touring for the world’s most appreciative audience, The United States Military personnel? Did you even know you could do that? I was part of a similar program way back in the early 80s which eventually allowed my band, Tyger Lily, to make the contacts needed to build a career touring Asia for nearly 6 years. Let’s take a look at Armed Forces Entertainment, shall we?

wicked.jpgYep, there’s a plan for that too! You should know by now that I have a plan for just about everything. “But can’t I just post a Myspace bulletin requesting sponsorship?”, you ask. “NO!”, I reply. Well, I guess you could, but soliciting through social networks will not likely land anything that will remotely affect your music career.

Let’s break this down:

A SPONSOR is the individual or group that provides the support.

TO SPONSOR is to support an event, activity, person, or organization financially or through the provision of products or services.

A SPONSORSHIP is a cash and/or in-kind fee paid to a property (typically in sports, arts, entertainment or causes) in return for access to the exploitable commercial potential associated with that property. This is a guest commentary by one of our friends, and long time industry colleagues, Summer Amshoff.  We thank her for her kind words and continued support!

The Music Industry Is Still Alive

By Summer Amshoff (Wicked Angels Agency)

summerpic.jpgThis is a long read my friends, so I put it in points of interest sections.  Part one being an observation of how music is still alive, based on two shows, and some organizations keeping the scene alive.  Part two is a review of the first show.  Part three is the review of the second show, and thanks to everyone who made it happen.  This is a good read for all who were involved, and anyone in the music industry who still believes (and works hard) to get what they want.
